Swepos

Data from Swepos, which is a national network of permanent reference stations, provide navigation support and accurate positioning for a variety of GNSS applications; from real-time positioning for production purposes – including machine guidance for construction work – to scientific studies – for example of very small and slow movements in the Earth's crust or for climate research.

Swepos stops producing files in RINEX 2 format at New Year

At the turn of the year 2024/2025, Swepos will stop producing new RINEX 2 files; this applies to both hourly files and daily files. All existing RINEX 2 files will continue to be available in our archive.

Swepos has stored data in RINEX 3 format since 2018. Those files contain data for more satellite positioning systems and GNSS signals, and it is more clearly defined what kind of observations are saved in the files. We urge all users of Swepos Post-processing and Swepos RINEX data – daily files to switch to rinex 3 as soon as possible.

Real-time services

Network RTK is a real-time service that allows positioning using GNSS / RTK equipment, with a measurement uncertainty at the centimetre level in the reference system SWEREF 99. You also get access to support services for planning and quality assurance.

The DGNSS service is provided as open data and allows for positioning with a measurement uncertainty at the metre level.

Post-processing services

A Post-processing subscription gives access to Swepos Post-processing service, Virtual rinex and Rinex data. You can then choose whether you want to send your static GNSS measurements to the Post-processing service for coordinate determination or if you want to download Swepos data for post-processing of your measurements using your own software.

Applications – Network RTK

A surveying engineer is standing in a conduit trench, surveying pipes with RTK.

The real-time Network RTK service can be useful for many different applications, in addition to traditional measurement applications such as property formation and stake outs. Network RTK can also be used for e.g. accurate positioning of drones, precision farming and much more.
