Technical framework and standard for download services

The download services are based on the standard protocol Webb Coverage Service (WCS) from The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) or the web standard Atom.

The Open Geospatial website Consortium (new window)

The Atom web standard on the RFC Editor website (new window)

WCS works as a view service, but with the ability to download the data that the service contains. Most GIS software on the market has built-in support for the WCS standard.

Atom is an XML-based format used for web feeds and can be used in most RSS readers or feed readers.
